LB997 Detecting the world’s smallest solid malignant tumor: The role of reflectance confocal microscopy in the diagnosis and management of a micro-melanoma

Early detection of melanoma is a vital determinant in achieving favorable prognosis and patient outcomes which led to innovations skin imaging modalities that improved the diagnostic accuracy early melanoma. Studies reported cancer its stages using dermoscopy reflectance confocal microscopy, however there are limited reports detecting micro-melanomas less than 2-mm diameter. Previously, smallest melanoma, measuring 0.9-mm was detected dermoscopy. We present case micro-melanoma 0.65-mm, malignant solid tumor date, with combination microscopy. A 61-year-old woman presented for focused exam revealed small hyperpigmented dot on her right cheek. Dermoscopy showed dark brown, perifollicular macule hyperpigmentation at periphery 60% single hair follicle microscopy demonstrated folliculotropic, dendritic melanocytes within follicle. Initial histologic assessment diagnosed lesion as solar lentigo, deeper sections were stained Melan-A SOX10 final diagnosis melanoma-in-situ made.
